Pumped up about winning international business!

Leading Edge and Dewsbury based compressed air company Cages have recently designed, manufactured and fitted a complete on-board tyre inflation system complete with promotional display material for Michelin UK.

Leading Edge won the account thanks to some clever ideas it pitched to the tyre giant for its annual road safety awareness campaign.

The event consists of a “Fill Up With Air” roadshow, which travels around the UK and Ireland inviting drivers to have their tyre pressures checked and adjusted for free. The message to motorists being the potential safety benefits, fuel savings and reduced CO2 emissions that are directly related to having the car’s tyre pressures correctly set. The vehicle recently featured on a BBC Breakfast feature.

“When we heard that we had won the Michelin contract, we were obviously delighted we could impress such a famous name like Michelin with our ideas,” says Matthew Evans, Leading Edge MD. We were able to excite the team at Michelin with some dazzling ideas involving bespoke display materials and some innovative vehicle branding ideas”

Matthew and his team have provided Michelin with a branded vehicle bearing the famous Michelin Man icon, branded tents, modular outdoor display, flags and literature.

Shaun Wood, Cages MD said “Between the two companies we have a really talented bunch of people, with a totally unique offer – and Michelin loved what we came up with!”

Cages, who already work with a number of leading names in the tyre industry, kitted out the vehicle with a complete compressed air on-board power system, including panelling, air inflation units, storage, racking and a generator.

Both Evans and Wood were keen to stress that although the Michelin deal is a major addition to their portfolio, the primary focus will not change: to look after the local business community and continue to compete with blue-chip organisations.

In fact, they are adamant that both national and local customers can expect an equally high level of service and value.

New addition to the team..

Leading Edge have added to their expanding display production department with the recruitment of 3D designer Iain Wardlaw. Iain has a background in product design and comes in to bolster the increasing requirement from clients to see their design in situ before they approve the concept.

Iain said “Matthew and his team really made me feel welcome from the interview stage and I was really impressed with their concept of the complete full service design, display and marketing agency. At first the concept seems complex but in reality saves us and the client time and money. The company is making significant investment in terms of equipment and I felt excited about getting involved quite early in the companies development”
